Cisco Cybersecurity Fundamentals
With this being the first Cisco Network Academy course that I have taken I was pleasantly surprised. If you have earned any of a variety of cybersecurity certifications to include the CompTIA Security+ and/or SANS GSEC then you are well prepared for the beginnings of Cisco CyberOPS. The Cybersecurity Fundamentals course included lab time, practice questions at the end of each sub-section as a check on learning, as well as a quiz at the end of each section encompassing everything. The videos are informative and give you more information than what is written on the page. The content alone is a nice refresher if you have dealt with cybersecurity before and even written in such a way for those just getting into the field to understand. There are 14 sections to this course of which some are theory and basic for anyone that has passed certifications already.
If you have studied and/or passed the CCNA, CompTIA Security+, and Network+ then the majority of this should be easy to understand. The more advanced concepts covered in this would be Linux architecture and operating environment, Windows architecture and operating environment, SNORT Rules, and Next Generation Security devices. Labs help to understand everything that is covered. You will be able to view logs, attack metasploitable to see what attacks look like from an analysis point of view, and configure firewall and SNORT rules. If you take your time and make sure you go through the labs and practice questions then the content is easily learned and understood.
After going through this course and studying the material I passed the Cisco 210-250 exam in less than 20 minutes. If you have any questions or comments please let me know.
